Bio
Willian Klippel-Huber is a researcher and engineer focused on technologies for sustainable and efficient agricultural systems. Born and raised on a coffee farm in Espírito Santo, Brazil, he developed early expertise in crop management, post-harvest practices, and coffee quality, which inspired his pursuit of engineering solutions for global food challenges.
He holds a degree in Agronomic Engineering (Engenheiro Agrônomo) from the Federal University of Viçosa. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Biological Systems Engineering at the University of California, Davis. His work at the UC Davis Coffee Center focuses on understanding the impact of defects in coffee beans on cup quality, combining traditional agronomic knowledge with modern sensory analysis, AI, and computer vision.
Beyond research, he has led entrepreneurial initiatives, founded a startup that applied machine learning to coffee defect detection, and contributed to academic teaching and international robotics competitions. Bridging science and practice, his goal is to translate research into industry-ready solutions that empower farmers, improve market practices, and strengthen the resilience of global food systems.
