SmartFarm

Directed by Biological and Agricultural Engineering Faculty, Professor David Slaughter, SmartFarm is one of UC Davis' Big Ideas.

UC Davis’ Big Ideas are forward-thinking, interdisciplinary programs and projects that will build upon the strengths of the university to positively impact the world for generations to come.

SmartFarm will face the challenges of food security in a world with an ever increasing population in a sustainable way. By incorporating smart machines, agriculture will become more precise, effecient, and effective. Also, by utilizing data about water, soil, and plant viability, smart machines will allow us to move into a sustainable future that balances the needs of nature with the needs of humans.
