Advising is a partnership between you and your advisor. Advisors help you navigate coursework and campus resources towards your educational and career goals. UC Davis has a multi-layered network of advising support for students to utilize during their educational journey. From your major advisor, peer advisors, to Dean's Office advisors, you will collaborate with different advisors for different types of advising and related tasks, but we are all here to help support you and your success. 

BAE Advising Team

The BAE Staff Advisors are the best resources for detailed advising, questions about curriculum requirements (majors and minors), referrals and annual mandatory advising (EBS students only). We assist students with course selection, schedule planning, hold removal, degree checks, GE advising (EBS only), research positions, and planning for graduate/professional school, for internships and for careers as well as general advice. Advisors:

• Major Advisors:
• Major advisors in the department are the best resources for detailed advising and can advise you on courses, specific major requirements, college and university requirements and career opportunities. You are strongly encouraged to consult with your major advisor each quarter before selecting your courses. • Peer Advisors:
• Peer advisors are current UC Davis students, who serve as a valuable resource to those searching for a fellow student's perspective with with academic and administrative questions, including course recommendations, progress checks, and other co-curricular questions. Peer advising is available on a drop-in basis. More information about peer advisors in the major and at the dean's office, including contact information, can be found on the Advising Contacts webpage.
• College Dean's Office Advising:
• Advisors in the college assist with general advising questions about university and college requirements. Advisors also connect students with campus resources and serve as an initial advising point of contact for all students in the college from application to graduation. They can guide and support you if you are placed on probation or subject to academic disqualification. More information about college advisors, including contact information, can be found via the college directory.

Advising Options:

• Drop-in Advising:
• Have a quick question? Try drop-in advising, available both in-person and virtually. These 15-minute appointments are meant to provide access for short discussions and quick questions about your advising needs. Drop-in advising is offered on a one-on-one, first-come, first-serve basis. If your question requires a meeting with a staff (major) advisor, you may be referred to appointment with a staff advisor.
• Scheduled Appointment Advising:
• Need in-depth discussion or advising? Then you should schedule an appointment with an advisor, available both in-person and virtually. These longer appointments, typically 30-minutes, are meant to dive deeper into topics, questions, or concerns that you may have that require longer than 15-minutes to get through. Scheduled appointments are available through the UC Davis Advising Appointment System and are offered throughout the quarter at various times to accommodate various schedules.
