UC Davis Safety Service's annual Lab Safety Awards are part of campus' commitment to recognizing labs with a strong safety emphasis who are doing their part to think safe, act safe and be safe. This year's winner for College of Engineering is Jesus Dionisio Fernandez-Bayo's lab in the BAE department.
Biological and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) Professor Tina Jeoh received the 2021 Danisco Foundation Science Excellence Medal from International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc (IFF). Every year, the award recognizes one scientist for their scientific and operational excellence and a remarkable track record of accomplishments in research and collaboration with industry.
The ASABE major award recognizes excellence in microirrigation research, development, extension, education and/or industry. Microirrigation is a low-pressure, low-flow-rate type of irrigation that can reduce the likelihood of overwatering a landscape. Kisekka’s group is known for its work in precision irrigation.
Biological and Agricultural Engineering Adjunct Professor Zhongli Pan received the 2022 International Food Engineering Award from the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). The ASABE major award recognizes significant engineering contributions in research, development or the design of food processes. The award also recognizes outstanding leadership, management and education in the food engineering profession.
Biological and agricultural engineering (BAE) professor David Slaughter and M.S. student Peter James Russell were recognized by the College of Engineering for their outstanding teaching during the 2020-21 academic year.
Biological systems engineering M.S. student Ivan Wongso has earned first place for his research presentation at the 2021 Food Improved by Research, Science, and Technology (FIRST) event, held by the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) during its annual meeting. He won over three other finalists under the Quality Management Division.
UC Davis biological systems engineers Chang Chen and Ke Wang placed first and third, respectively, in the 2021 graduate student paper competition hosted by the Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological and Food Engineers (AOCABFE, also known as AOC). The competition is held every year at the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Annual Meeting.
